The self can be likened to the trunk of a tree, with all aspects of that self branching off from the centre, from which emanates foliage varying from dark and decayed, to bright and bountiful. Those which are in the process of decay are still beautiful in themselves, but are analogous to the disposal of old patterns in order to make way for the new. It's not that those leaves were undesirable in any way - the darkly coloured pigments of Autumn are a sight to behold - but rather, they are the stepping stones which lead to the manifestation of further, more colourful and wholesome expressions.

Nature itself consists of perpetual chaos between moments of stability, and its procession through this chaos and order is an inescapable fact, of which we as human beings are an integral part of. Admittedly, in the busy hive of urban environments, it becomes easy to forget this, as we are constantly being bombarded by materialistic artificialities which detract from our original nature. Logic and order is the brain's way of assimilating nature's 'program' onto an interface that is both comprehensible, and therefore manageable. For example, were we to observe solely the million of bits of data which make up the image of this computer screen, our minds would translate it as mere random incomprehensible gibberish. The decoding of this information, as it projects through our eyes and into the back of our brains results in the conceivable form of this image. The difference between the human brain and a computer however, is that the brain is a trillion times more powerful!

Reality is inclined to a never-ending flux of perpetual mutability - in which an infinite number of permutations are possible. A fundamentalist Christian views the world differently to a London taxi driver, or a Saudi cleric. If the brain is considered the 'hardware', then the belief system can be likened to the 'software'. Different software programs result in different reality tunnels, and the current human condition can attributed to people identifying excessively with their own perceived realities - objectifying them, and mistakenly believing them to be the so-called 'norm'. If you imagine a video-game character mistakenly believing that nothing exists outside of the computer screen, i.e. only its own perceived fantasy world, you'll get a better idea of what I mean.

Therefore, conflicts in the psyche are the denial of pure divine expression, (Sigmund Freud referred to this phenomena as the 'libido', while his apprentice Wilhelm Reich referred to it as Orgone, or 'Life-Force-Energy') exacerbated partly by a clash of reality tunnels - those which have been established over millennia by political and religious institutions seeking to deny these expressions, be they in the form of universal love, or unbound creativity which aims to strengthen this unity. Order is a good thing in itself - and without it, society would descend into chaos. But a denial of freedom for change prevents our advancement as a species, and it is now time to realise that we have the power and freedom to construct our own realities, provided they do not interfere with the endeavours and freedoms of others.
